Configure: Geofences

Configure: Geofences tab enables you to view and edit existing geofences, and create new geofences. Devices can be associated with geofences to monitor when devices leave or enter defined areas. Geofence breach alarms are triggered when the device leaves an inclusion zone or enters an exclusion zone.

Geofences

The 'Geofences' table lists all the geofences created for your Tracertrak account, showing their name, type, status, condition, the devices associated with each geofence and the date/time each associated device last broadcast its location since the geofence was created or last edited.

The 'type' explains whether the geofence is an 'inclusion zone' or 'exclusion zone'. An inclusion zone means that locations broadcast from devices associated with the geofence are checked to ensure they are inside the geofence. An alarm is triggered if the device leaves the area. The opposite occurs for an exclusion zone.

The 'status' identifies whether the geofence is 'active' or 'inactive'. Inactive geofences are not being monitored for breaches. The status can be changed via the button explained below.

The 'condition' identifies whether the geofence has been breached or not, and which devices have breached the geofence. The various conditions are explained in more detail below.

The 'Devices' and 'Date/Time' column list the devices associated with the geofence and the date and time each device last broadcast a location.

Geofence Condition

The 'condition' column contains a summary condition for each geofence in bold. For each geofence, the condition for each associated device is shown as of the last broadcast received from the device since the geofence was created or last edited. When a geofence's location, status or type is changed, its condition is reset. The following conditions are possible:

PENDING: A broadcast has not been received from any one of the devices associated with the geofence since the geofence was created or its location, status or type was changed.
OK: All devices associated with the geofence have either a last location that was OK - did not breach the geofence - or a condition of PENDING
IN DOUBT: None of the associated devices has a status of IN BREACH. The last location for one or more associated devices is a LOCATION ERROR or there is a MISSING BROADCAST alarm for one or more of the associated devices.
BREACHED: The last location of one or more devices associated with the geofence was IN BREACH of the geofence.
INACTIVE: The geofence has been set to 'inactive'. The geofence is not being monitored for breaches. Activate the geofence using the button explained below.

When a geofence has been breached, the device(s) that breached the geofence are shown with an alarm status icon as follows:

Unacknowledged Alarm: The device has breached the geofence, triggering an alarm. The alarm is unacknowledged. Reminder alerts may still be sent if the geofence has been configured with reminders enabled.
Acknowledged Alarm: The device has breached the geofence. Whilst the device is still in breach of the geofence, the alarm has been acknowledged, suppressing any reminder alerts that may have been enabled in the geofence settings.

To acknowledge one or more alarms for a device, click the following button.

A confirmation message is displayed when the above button is clicked. Positive confirmation acknowledges the alarm, supressing any further reminders that may have been configured for the alarm.
